English at Moorthorpe Primary School with Inclusion Resource
At Moorthorpe Primary School with Inclusion Resource we endeavour to equip children with the skills to succeed in the ‘wider world’. Through our English curriculum we aim to teach our children to speak, read and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others effectively. We promote a love of reading for both adults and children, fostering inquisitiveness and curiosity about real and imaginary worlds. Two of our main priorities are vocabulary and oracy, giving children the linguistic tools to speak confidently in a range of contexts and empowering all children to have a ‘voice’. Teachers read aloud stories with enthusiasm and share their passion for novels. We endeavour to provide pupils with a high-quality education in English that will enable them to succeed in adult life, beyond our school gates.
